Forecast Pledges

NullDaily

Call how public forecasts turn out. Right or wrong, your jar gets a little.

Forecast Pledges

A guessing game with public forecasts. Pick an open market, like "Will US housing starts be above 1.35M?", and call it yes or no. When it settles, a pledge goes into your own Budvo jar: $1 if you called it, $3 if you didn't. Either way the money goes toward your debt the next time you smash the jar.

No money is wagered anywhere. The add-on reads Kalshi's public market data (read only, no account, no trades) through Budvo's net.fetch. There's no payout and nothing to win except bragging rights. Pledges never move money; they only add to your jar, within the daily limit you set.

  • Open markets: up to six public markets that close in the next three weeks, with the crowd's odds.
  • Your calls: what you called, what the crowd thought, and how it turned out.
  • Settling: results are checked when you open the page. A settled call pledges once, and Budvo asks you about each one in its own dialog (unless you turned that off for this add-on). "Not now" skips that pledge; if Budvo is busy with another question, the pledge waits for your next visit. Voided markets pledge nothing.
  • Offline: if Kalshi can't be reached, you get practice markets with made-up numbers. Practice calls show their result right away and never pledge.

How it reads Kalshi

  • GET /trade-api/v2/markets?status=open&mve_filter=exclude&limit=200&min_close_ts=...&max_close_ts=... for open markets closing in the next 6 hours to 21 days. Combo markets are left out, one market is kept per event (and at most two per series), and anything priced under 12% or over 88% is skipped. Each page is well under the 1 MB net.fetch limit.
  • GET /trade-api/v2/markets/{ticker} to see whether a called market settled and its result.

Run it locally with npx budvo-addon dev . from this folder (the dev host proxies net.fetch to the hosts in network). Tick "Offline" in the dev host to see the practice markets.
