Examples

Four complete app@1 add-ons, each a small folder of plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no build step. They're built with the SDK and each shows a different part of the bridge. All of them draw their pixel art in code, so there are no image files to load. Download one, read it, and borrow whatever helps.

Pixel Pets

A pixel cat that gets hungry, bored and sleepy over time, even while Budvo is closed. Its little shop sells kibble, toys and treats for 50 cents to $3, and every purchase is a pledge to your jar, up to $5 a day. When the day's limit is reached the shop closes with a kind message instead of an error. With summary:read, the pet throws a party when your total debt went down since your last visit, and skips the amount in privacy mode.

  • Shows: jar.pledge and capped, storage for the pet, summary.read with a quiet fallback, syncTheme, drawing sprites on tiny canvases.
  • Permissions: summary:read, jar:pledge ($5 a day), storage.
  • Download: pixel-pets.zip

Claw Machine

A pixel claw machine drawn on a 128 by 136 canvas. Insert $1 (a pledge), steer the claw with the arrows or your keyboard and drop it. Rare trinkets are slippery. Everything you win goes on a shelf saved in storage; prizes are pixels with no cash value. Five plays a day at most.

  • Shows: one pledge per action, a play that survives closing the page, a game loop with requestAnimationFrame, keyboard controls, toasts.
  • Permissions: jar:pledge ($5 a day), storage.
  • Download: claw-machine.zip

Cancel Helper

Step-by-step guides to cancel Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Spotify, Amazon Prime, Peacock, HBO Max, Paramount+, YouTube Premium, gym memberships, SiriusXM, Adobe and The New York Times, with the discounts that often appear once you start cancelling, cheaper plans to ask about, and links to each official cancel page. Tick off steps as you go.

  • Shows: content shipped as a data file (a script, since the sandbox blocks fetch) that's updated by publishing a new version, links that fall back to copying when the sandbox blocks new tabs, and an add-on that works without any money permissions at all.
  • Permissions: storage (for checkmarks).
  • Download: cancel-helper.zip

Forecast Pledges

A guessing game with public forecasts, framed as a game and not gambling: no money is wagered anywhere. It reads a few open markets from Kalshi's public API (read only, no account, no trades) and lets you call them yes or no. When a market settles, your jar gets $1 if you called it and $3 if you didn't. If Kalshi can't be reached, you get clearly labeled practice markets that never pledge.

  • Shows: net.fetch to one host in network, staying under the 1 MB response limit, graceful offline handling, settling work when the page opens.
  • Permissions: net (api.elections.kalshi.com), jar:pledge ($10 a day), storage.
  • Download: forecast-pledges.zip

Run them

Each zip unpacks into the add-on's files, so give it a folder of its own:

terminal
mkdir pixel-pets && cd pixel-petscurl -LO https://budvo.nulldaily.com/examples/pixel-pets.zip && unzip pixel-pets.zip && rm pixel-pets.zipcd .. && npx budvo-addon dev pixel-pets

The dev host at http://localhost:5190 plays Budvo: made-up money, a jar with a daily limit and a new-day button, light and dark mode, privacy mode and an offline switch for net.fetch. To run one on your own server, sideload its folder.
