Accounts and linking
You don't need an account to run Budvo, and free add-ons install without one. An account is only for linking your Budvo server to you on this website: it lets you see your servers in one place and unlink them, and it's what paid add-ons will use later.
Budvo accounts are NullDaily accounts. NullDaily makes Budvo, and the same account works across its products. Your NullDaily account is separate from the account you sign in to your Budvo server with: your server never asks for it, and NullDaily never signs in to your server.
Open your account page and choose Sign in with NullDaily. You go to nulldaily.com, sign in (or make an account, which takes a minute and confirms your email), allow Budvo, and come straight back. NullDaily handles your password, two-factor, passkeys and every account email; this site never sees your password.
Your account page shows your NullDaily name, email and picture, your linked servers, and a link to manage the account itself on nulldaily.com. Sign out signs you out here and on NullDaily.
Link a server
- In your Budvo dashboard, open Settings > Marketplace and choose Link to a Budvo account.
- The dashboard shows a code like
ABCD-EFGHand opens a page on this site. If you're not signed in, sign in with NullDaily first. - Check that the code on the page matches the one on your server, then choose Approve.
The dashboard finishes on its own within a few seconds. Codes last 10 minutes and work once. If you change your mind, choose Deny and the server isn't linked.
A server can be linked to one account at a time. To move it to another NullDaily account, unlink it first, then link it again while signed in to the other account.
Unlink a server
Either side can end the link:
- On this website: open your account page and choose Unlink next to the server.
- On your server: open Settings > Marketplace and unlink there.
The server's link stops working right away. Add-ons you installed keep running.
What a link shares
A link carries no financial data, ever. This site learns your server's name (the one you typed), its Budvo version and when it last checked in. NullDaily learns that the server exists, as a scrambled id, never its address. Nothing about your accounts, balances, transactions, debts or household goes anywhere.
The server keeps a random link token. This site stores only a hash of it, so a leak of this site's database couldn't be used to act as your server.
Accounts made before NullDaily
Accounts on this website used to be separate, but they never opened to the public, so there's nothing to move. A server linked during testing has to be linked again.
